Printek Tractor Shuttle Idler Gear, FormsPro 4603

The Printek Tractor Shuttle Idler Gear is a repair part for the FormsPro 4603 Wide Carriage Dot Matrix Printer.

The steps for replacement of the shuttle gears and/or shuttle plate are:

1. Unplug the power cord.
2. Remove the tractor shuttle motor.
3. If replacing the idler gear or the gear plate, remove the e-clip on the idler gear shaft and remove the gear.
4. If only replacing the idler gear, skip to step 12.
5. Remove the shuttle cable.
6. Remove the screw and two washers from the gear/pulley shaft and remove the gear/pulley.
7. If not replacing the gear plate, skip to step 10.
8. Note the orientation of the gear plate and remove the three nuts and lock washers that fasten the gear plate to the base.
9. Install the new gear plate, but do not fully tighten the hardware.
10. Install the gear/pulley using the two washers and screw removed earlier. Make sure the gear/pulley rotates freely.
11. Install the shuttle cable and perform all adjustments.
12. Install the idler gear and e-clip.
13. Reinstall the shuttle motor.
